RAVEN & BLUE BOX

RAVEN & BLUE BOX, 1/4 is the first print in a series of four monotype plates printed of this image. Each plate was reworked to create variations between the prints. The image is 8” X 8”. The Rives BFK paper size is 10” X 13”. The prints were produced February 21 - 28, 2021. RAVEN & BLUE BOX was inspired by a version of Native peoples of the Americas Northwest Coast stories of Raven bringing light to the dark world. It tells of the moment RAVEN opened the blue box of sky, releasing the sun, moon & stars gifting light to the world.

PRAYER BEAR

The bear has long been a symbol of strength and correct use of energy for many cultures across the Northern Hemisphere. Bears are known to hibernate and conserve energy. As many of us now hibernate and await the passing of the Coronavirus pandemic we might think of bear and its’ instinctual cycle of energy conservation and self-preservation. This Prayer Bear print includes the spiral, the breath of life. Two of these prints were produced. Both can be viewed here. There are just slight variations between the two. The monotype image is 4.25” X 4.50” with the paper margin beyond the image. They were printed on April 7th & 8, 2020. CONTINUANCE

Monotype/Chine Colle’/ Mixed Media/ 10.5” X 15”/ March 27, 2020

Raven is known as a symbol of continuance, a messenger of love, healing and has many more connotations from diverse cultures around the world. This raven carries a turquoise stone in its beak, symbolizing all elements in the universe in balance. The red threads symbolize the cord of life, the umbilical cord. The Chinese Red handmade paper offers rich visual texture to the piece. Working with it offered a meditation, a reflection for wellbeing and a bridge of continuance during these days of the Coronavirus global pandemic. It is a prayer offered for healing.

The images shown include a full view of the piece and two detail shots. The piece is available for purchase. Further information about CONTINUANCE can be found in the NEW PRODUCT section. Contact me directly lindataynahza@icloud.com for purchase. SOLD!

RED SALSAS

The RED SALSAS, detail shots, two views of work in progress mounted on board, 20” X 25”, acrylic on paper with a high gloss varnish. I have been working with a series of

floral pieces for a dental office in Orem, UT. The Red Salsa flowers are part of the cone flower family. I saw the stand of flowers used for this piece in a neighbors yard. The Red Salsas have long stems. Some were three feet tall. They were calling me to paint them!
